Duke Ellingtons Sacred Concert
Featuring FSU University Choir, Heritage Restoration Chorale and Fayetteville Jazz Orchestra. In the last decade of his life, Duke Ellington wrote three jazz inspired sacred works for jazz band, choir, and soloists. Ellington called these concerts “the most important thing I have ever done”. Critic Gary Giddins characterized these concerts as Ellington bringing the Cotton Club revue to the church.
