Description

Flora McDonald, her husband Allan and their six children sailed to America from Scotland in 1774.  They joined the colony of Highland Scots, who were settling in southeastern North Carolina at the time and resided in the Fayetteville area (Cross Creek at the time) during the American Revolution.  Flora McDonald bade farewell to her husband and his troops during the march out of the highlands to the Battle of Moore's Creek Bridge in February, 1776
