Carvers Creek State Park is the first North Carolina state park to open in the Sandhills Region. Carvers Creek contains over 4,000 acres in Harnett and Cumberland counties, although not all of this land is accessible to the public at this time. Activities you can enjoy currently include: hiking two trails, the James S. Rockefeller Trail and the Cypress Point Loop.; fishing at the millpond; picnicking; nature viewing; as well as occasional environmental education led by the park rangers at Carvers Creek.
