Greater Fayetteville –  The Fayetteville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (FACVB) has restructured and added several staff members to its roster.  “We’ve realigned our departments to better service visitors and potential visitors to Cumberland County,”  says John Meroski, FACVB President and CEO.   In addition to administration, the bureau now has three departments:

  • Tourism –  markets greater Fayetteville as a destination for leisure travel.
  • Sales – secures group meeting and tournament business for greater Fayetteville.
  • Communications/Visitor Center – accurately communicates the offerings of Cumberland County and the FACVB to our constituents, the media, general public and staff.

As of July 1, 2011, Angie Abrams was promoted to Director of Tourism. Abrams oversees the program of work for the Tourism Department, which includes attending tradeshows, developing tourism products, managing an e-marketing program, working with the NC Welcome Centers and ensuring greater Fayetteville’s attributes are marketed to Fort Bragg.   Tourism Sales Manager Shannon Deaton secures and services group tour business for greater Fayetteville.

In addition to moving Visitor Services to the bureau’s Communication Department,  in August 2011, two team members were added.  Research and Data Manager David Nash oversees the FACVB’s database of partners in the tourism industry, tracks effectiveness of several programs, conducts field research, and presents metrics from the FACVB’s program of work.  Previously, Nash was a Document Auditor with Abbott Labs in Chicago, Il.

As Communications Coordinator, Brittany Williams  ensures  we offer a comprehensive event calendar for visitors and pushes event information out through a variety of sources. Additionally, Williams works on a number of social media platforms, blogs and maintains the bureau’s image library.   Previously, Williams was a Communications Specialist for Picerne Military Housing.

The FACVB also added two other staff members in the spring of 2011:

Office Manager Kelly Brill handles human resources,  accounts payable and receivable, and manages all equipment at three visitor center offices.   Sales Coordinator Belinda Pruett provides administrative support to the sales department and handles some telemarketing duties.
