Fayetteville, NCCape Fear Regional Theatre (CRFT) brings an emotional play to life with its upcoming Downrange: Voices from the Homefront March 3-20, 2016.  Downrange is a new play about how 9/11 has reshaped what it means to be a military family based on interviews with military spouses from Fort Bragg and the surrounding communities. Downrange is written by North Carolina playwright Mike Wiley, who also wrote The Parchman Hour.

Methodist University Hosts Free Rodin Exhibition

The David McCune International Art Gallery at Methodist University welcomes an exhibition from Auguste Rodin, one of the most well known and respected artists in the world.“Rodin: Portraits of a Lifetime: Selections from the Iris & B. Gerald Cantor Foundation” includes 17 sculptures from Auguste Rodin, a 19th and early 20th century sculptor.  His most famous works, including “The Thinker” are considered art treasures.

Bureau Books 38 Events First Half FY 15/16

In the first half of the 2015/16 fiscal year, the Fayetteville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (FACVB) secured 38 future meetings, tournaments and group tours for Cumberland County in the coming months and years. These events, which represent 14,714 room nights at county hotels, will impact Cumberland County’s economy at just over $5 million.

While working as an army medic on the night shift at a military hospital, Dirtbag’s brewmaster Vernardo “Tito” Simmons-Valenzuela made a bargain with a fellow medic. Tito promised free beer for life in exchange for a homebrew kit the friend received for his wedding. That’s when Tito started his path to becoming a brewer. Romare Bearden: Beat of a Different Drum Exhibit Kicks Off Black History Month n Fayetteville

Watercolors from noted artist Romare Bearden’s only published children’s book Li’l  Dan, The Drummer Boy: A Civil War Story are a featured component of the next show at the Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County.  The exhibition includes 26 original watercolors from the book and text panels with audio narration by Maya Angelou.
