During the late 18th and early 19th centuries it was known as "Robber Row," a humorous take on the cluster of New England silversmiths, pewters, and tinsmiths who had shops there. Liberty Row is a group of fourteen brick buildings, some of the oldest commercial buildings in Fayetteville, built between 1791 and the close of the century.
