ANGELS AMONG US - Historic Churches Tour
A tour of Fayetteville's beautiful houses of worship offers a diverse and inspirational view of history, architecture and patriotism. This day-long tour can easily be divided into half-day segments. Special features and recommended tour times are noted.


Historic Downtown - Total Time: 4 Hour
- St. Jospeph's Episcopal Church (1896) - View five exquisite Resurrection windows by Tiffany Studios of New York.
- St. John's Episcopal Church (rebuilt 1883) - Has ten pyramidal spires and unusual stained-glass windows made in Germany.
- Drive by Hay Street United Methodist (1908) - Features rare "robing" glass windows and First Baptist (1910) - Romanesque revival style.
- First Presbyterian Church (rebuilt 1832) - Has a wooden truss roof (the only one if its kind in North Carolina), whale-oil chandeliers and a magnificent spire.
- Evans Metropolitan AME Zion Church (1893) - A fine example of Gothic architecture.
Fort Bragg - Total Time 4 Hours
- 82nd Airborne Division Memorial Chapel - Stained-glass windows depict campaigns involving the 82 nd Airborne.
- The Main Post Chapel (1932) - Features windows handcrafted with 14,000 pieces of antique glass from around the world.
- JFK Memorial Chapel - Contains stained glass windows dedicated to the Special Forces soldiers and Patriotic and Biblical military campaigns.
- Longstreet Church and Cemetery - This Presbyterian church was founded by Scottish settlers in 1756. The current building was erected in 1846 and the cemetery dates back to 1773. Open by appointment only.
- Drive to Godwin (1 hr. from Fort Bragg/30 minutes from Fayetteville). The Old Bluff Presbyterian Church (built in 1758) is one of the oldest church cemeteries in the area.
