Fayetteville, NC -  Football legend Roman Gabriel, Oscar from The Walking Dead and Tugg the Super Dog will be joining two dozen other guests and North Carolina’s leading nerds, geeks, fanboys and fangirls at the October 17 Fayetteville Comic Con.

They will all be converging on the Crown Expo Center for the inaugural event, which promises to become one of the leading comic expos in North Carolina.

Roman Gabriel, an NC State All-American, played sixteen seasons in the NFL, earning four Pro Bowl appearances and the NFL MVP award in 1969. His Comic Con Cred includes starring next to John Wayne in The Undefeated and appearing on Gilligan’s Island and Wonder Woman.

Vincent Ward played Oscar, one of the prisoners, in Season Three of The Walking Dead, and has appeared in numerous other TV shows and movies, including True Blood and Ocean’s Eleven.

But most exciting of all may be Tugg, The Super Dog. Tugg, a Bull Terrier, was found staked to the ground and near death in Texas, but was nursed back to health and has been featured in several comic books and the Rachael Ray TV show.

The first annual event will also include two cosplay contests; video game, Magic the Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh and HeroClix tournaments; Geek Trivia Contests; panel discussions and a special martial arts demonstration comparing the martial arts of the movies to the real-life styles.

According to show organizers, the Fayetteville Comic Con will be fitting in more events in one day then found in many two or three-day conventions.

Other guests include six actors from The Walking Dead, including the Gas Mask Zombie; Famed Batman and Star Wars writer Mike W. Barr, legendary Vampirella artist Rudy Nebres and Show Cars The Mystery Machine from Scooby Doo and KITT from Knight Rider!

Fans are welcome to come as themselves, but organizers are expecting many attendees to dress as their favorite superhero, Star Wars or anime character, or -- who knows what?

Cosplay Guests of Honor Mikomi Chan from Virginia and Miss Faye from North Carolina will help judge our two cosplay contests. The Junior Division Competition is for those age 15 and under and everyone 16 and over will complete in the Senior Division. Prizes include gift certificates and trophies for the juniors and cash prizes for the older competitors, plus a special prize for the best Active Military costume.

Admission is only $10 in advance, $12 at the door, with discounts to Active Military. Children 10 and under are admitted free with a paying adult. Tickets are available at the door or in advance at the Crown Center Box Office, Dragon's Lair Comic Book Store or the Gamer’s Guild.
