Blooms, Bunnies, and Bakeries — Spring has Sprung in Fayetteville

What’s hopping around Fayetteville this month? From bunnies and blooms to local bakeries, spring is showing out here.

Blossom season is upon us and Cumberland County is Mother Nature’s canvas. A splash of color is all around you at the Cape Fear Botanical Garden. The 80-acre garden has various nature walks and specialty gardens with vibrant blooms and collections. A simple leisure stroll is both satisfying and relaxing if you’re looking to get out in nature more. From building birdhouses to learning about gardening, the garden’s event calendar has something for everything this spring.

Our blooms aren’t seen just in nature but also in the form of events—such as the Dogwood Festival. The annual event takes place the 4th weekend in April in Downtown Fayetteville and is jammed packed with family fun. From live music to street vendors and aerial acts to fireworks, the 3-day festival is one that you don’t want to miss. If you’re looking to brighten up your home, stop in at Downtown Market, aka The Milkman, to pick up a fresh bouquet of flowers. HINT: you may want to browse their local products while you are there.

Many things come to mind when we think about spring. Perhaps it’s anticipating the Easter Bunny’s arrival with a basket of treats or hunting for Easter eggs with the family. Lucky for you, Fayetteville is all about tradition. In April, you’ll be able to participate in a variety of events around town. Cool Spring Downtown District is Hoppin’ Around this year with a scavenger hunt in Downtown Fayetteville and “Honey” the Bunny is going to make an appearance—so be sure to bring the entire family. Across town at family-owned and operated Green Side Up Garden & Gifts, you can take pictures with the Easter Bunny all month long. You’ll need to make time to shop their 5,600-garden center that offers unique gifts, gardening products, flowers, and outdoor furniture. The center is also available for receptions and parties. Then hop on over to Sweet Valley Ranch for a farm tour, where you can see over 350 animals from 5 different continents. And yes, they have real bunnies! The ranch is constantly updating its calendar with year-round events from farmer’s markets to Music at the Farm, click here to plan your day.

Not only are the blooms a pretty shade of spring but it appears that the neighborhood bakeries start showing off this time of year as well. If you’re looking for something to satisfy your sweet tooth, Fayetteville has several options. From decadent cheesecakes and macaroons at The Sweet Palette in Downtown Fayetteville to cupcakes in every color at Kiss Me Cakes Bakery located in Hope Mills, Cumberland County covers all things sweet. Dessert, in our opinion, can be eaten any time of day, so be sure to grab a doughnut at Superior Bakery in the morning to start the day off right.
