Visitors, please excuse Cumberland County's residents as we go a little bonkers over the inaugural season of the Fayetteville Woodpeckers, our new Minor League Baseball team. As I'm writing this blog, the City of Fayetteville and the Woodpeckers are making final preparations for the first-ever home game at our brand-new Segra Stadium tonight. I'll just say this: we're all living and breathing baseball right now, and nowhere is that more evident than in the Cool Spring Downtown District, where our new ballpark is located. I thought it would be a good idea to do a round-up of places downtown where you can park, shop, and eat "all things baseball" before or after you take in a Woodpeckers' game in 2019. Then it's time for "Play Ball!"
Bright Light Brewing Company (444 W. Russell St., Ste. 102) is offering free game-night parking at the lot indicated on map above; pay $10 when you park and get your pass validated with a purchase inside BLBC to be reimbursed.
The City of Fayetteville gives a comprehensive breakdown of all parking options and rules on their website, to include FAST Bus Routes to Segra Stadium, and I would encourage anyone planning to attend a Woodpeckers' game to read up on that beforehand.
Want to learn more about why we consider Cumberland County to be a baseball lover's dream destination right now? Check out the piece I wrote on our Fayetteville Woodpeckers, Fayetteville SwampDogs, baseball exhibits, and more here: "Victory Means a Little More Here!" Then start planning your visit to the communities of Cumberland County with the assistance of the Fayetteville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. Between the Woodpeckers and the SwampDogs, we have a total of 99 baseball games on the schedule through the 2019 season. All you have to do is pick a weekend to enjoy some baseball magic in "America's Hometown"!
