  • Overview

Sweet Tea Shakespeare’s holiday concert, Behold, continues this December. This intimate live concert features original writing, thought-provoking reflections, and plenty of holiday cheer.

Each year, Sweet Tea brings back some musical favorites and adds new music ranging from the singer-songwriter tradition to wondrous choral works. Bringing together the energy and music of Sweet Tea’s pre-show, Behold leaves audiences soaring with a heartfelt holiday celebration. Behold is hosted by Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Fayetteville and performs at 7 pm on December 2-4 & 9-11.

Entering its 10th Anniversary year, Sweet Tea Shakespeare has built its reputation on presenting plays unconventionally, with a live radio show-style concert before the play starts, live music throughout the show, and simple, elemental, interactive staging. It presents Behold each year as a gift to the community. The concert has become one of Fayetteville’s best-kept secrets that send hearts soaring into the holiday season. Based on music from Andrew Peterson’s Behold the Lamb of God, the Oh Hellos, and various other artists, Behold leans heavily on the Gospel and folk traditions with a full band.

The event will offer holiday treats for purchase, including beer, wine, light snacks, and more.

Tickets are Pay What You Can with a $10 minimum. All proceeds benefit Sweet Tea Shakespeare and its host, Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.

COVID-19 protocols are in place for the event. Audiences should expect to wear masks.

Sweet Tea Shakespeare’s 2021-2022 season would not be possible without the support via a generous grant from the Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County. Additional season partners include The Capitol Encore Academy, Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, William Peace University, HomeLight, Paris & Potter Management, and Napkins.

Sweet Tea productions are supported by members of Sweet Tea Shakespeare’s young companies, Green Tea and Little Green Tea. Students attend rehearsals with professional and community artists, participate as understudies, apprentices, junior cast members, crew, front-of-house operators, and more.
