The Pechmann Fishing Education Center’s Introduction to Fly-Casting course is designed as a fun and easy way for beginning fly anglers to give fly-casting a try. Or, if you have some experience casting a fly rod, you may be looking to refine your fly-casting skills. This course presents a great way to improve your casting, using tactile and visual cues that are easy to understand.
Class size is limited to 20 participants to ensure adequate one-on-one coaching from their qualified cadre of volunteers. The minimum age requirement is 12 years old, and participants 15 years old and younger must be under the supervision of a parent or guardian. Fly rods and other necessary equipment will be provided by the Pechmann Center. However, they do require that all participants wear closed-toe shoes, a hat with visor, and some sort of eye wear (polarized sunglasses are recommended). Please note that this course does not include fishing time on the water. Preregistration is required.
