In celebrating Black History Month, the City of Fayetteville is offering the exhibit “It is Well with My Soul," a survey of historic African American cemeteries located in Fayetteville-Cumberland County. The intent of the exhibit is to showcase both the historic and artistic qualities found in these cemeteries. The exhibit represents a mere random sampling of cemeteries, individuals and artistic form that helps define the character of the urban and rural historic local African American cemeteries. These cemeteries represent a thread in the tapestry that is Fayetteville’s African American heritage and history. This exhibit is presented by the Fayetteville Area Transportation and Local History Museum, and will remain on display at the Arts Council through February 24, 2018.
