Museum of the Cape Fear Historical Complex

  • Overview

    Enjoy the rich history of the Tar Heel State at this branch of the North Carolina Museum of History. Visitors will learn about Native Americans, European settlements, slavery, plank roads, steamboating, the Civil War and more. In addition to permanent exhibitions and a changing gallery, exhibits on naval stores, early 19th Century domestic life, transportation, and folk potters are featured. Other attractions include Arsenal Park, the remnants of the Fayetteville Arsenal, and the restored 1897 Victorian residence of E.A. Poe a local brick manufacturer. Museum is open Tuesday- Saturday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Tours available for 1897 Poe House. 910-500-4240.
