Owner and Chef, Mykel Sims of Sweet Smokee’z BBQ & Soulfood got his start in the food business working as a medical food safety officer stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. After retiring from military service, Mykel opened a barbecue restaurant in Fairbanks, Alaska. When his wife, an Army Staff Sergeant was sent back to Fort Bragg, NC, Mike decided to bring the Chicago style flavor down south to North Carolina. Mykel, originally began serving his barbecue out of a food truck but now has a full service restaurant. Sweet Smokee'z BBQ is a lot sweeter with more sugar & tomato based sauces and a ton of spices. Although Sweet Smokee'z BBQ & Soulfood focus is Chicago style barbecue, the menu champion Southern influences especially the smoked pulled pork. North Carolina is faithful to its pork; and our pork is topped with our secret version of a sweet and smokey sauce, homemade coleslaw and pineapples. The people who eat our ribs, only eat our ribs!
